TÜV Rheinland Issues 5-Star Eye Comfort Certification to Great Wall Motors’ In-Vehicle Display
TÜV Rheinland Greater China, a leading international independent third-party testing, inspection, and certification organization, has presented 5-Star Eye Comfort Certification to the in-vehicle display (model: COG-PVLHZ0062-01) featured in Great Wall Motor Co., Ltd.’s (Great Wall Motors) latest vehicle models. This certification represents a significant advancement in smart cockpit display technology, delivering a healthier and more comfortable visual experience for users. The certified display will be progressively integrated into upcoming models across Great Wall Motors’ brand portfolio.
The certification ceremony was attended by key representatives, including Geng Weifeng, Deputy General Manager of Great Wall Motors’ Technology Center, Huang Yuxin, Senior Vice President of TÜV Rheinland Greater China Mobility, and Jay Yang, Senior Vice President of TÜV Rheinland Greater China Business Stream Products.
Geng Weifeng stated: “For years, TÜV Rheinland’s expertise and extensive experience in automotive testing and certification have supported Great Wall Motors’ innovation and the broader industry. Moving forward, we aim to collaborate with key partners to develop cutting-edge software and hardware solutions, delivering superior services and experiences to our customers.”
In smart cockpits, displays serve as critical interfaces for driver and passenger interaction with the vehicle and its environment. As large screens become increasingly common, issues such as eye fatigue, blue light exposure, and ambient light interference have gained attention. TÜV Rheinland’s Eye Comfort Certification evaluates smart cockpit displays across four dimensions: image quality, ambient light management, visual care technology, and user guidance. Products are rated on a 3-star, 4-star, or 5-star scale, with higher ratings indicating superior performance.
Great Wall Motors’ certified display excelled in TÜV Rheinland’s rigorous testing across all four dimensions. It incorporates hardware-level low blue light and flicker-free technologies, reducing harmful blue light without compromising color accuracy. The flicker-free light source minimizes visual fatigue, lowers the risk of myopia, and promotes eye health, ensuring a clear, natural, and comfortable viewing experience for activities like watching videos or interacting with interfaces.
The display also performs exceptionally under varied lighting conditions, with excellent surface reflectivity control and ambient light contrast (ACR). Its intelligent brightness and color temperature adjustment capabilities adapt in real time to changing light environments, ensuring a soft, glare-free viewing experience during daylight, nighttime, or long-distance travel, thereby reducing visual strain.
Additionally, the display includes a motion sickness mitigation feature, which responds to sudden vehicle movements, such as starting or braking, by providing real-time visual feedback on motion direction and acceleration via dynamic screen indicators. This helps reduce passenger discomfort from motion sickness.
Huang Yuxin commented: “Since 2007, TÜV Rheinland and Great Wall Motors have collaborated on a wide range of services, including EU market access services, component testing, regulatory consulting, personnel training, certification of management system, global market access for wireless products, and functional safety. In April 2025, we deepened our partnership in the field of healthy cockpit displays. This 5-Star Eye Comfort Certification reflects Great Wall Motors’ commitment to user health and comfort. We look forward to further expanding our collaboration, leveraging TÜV Rheinland’s expertise across the automotive value chain to enhance Great Wall Motors’ product competitiveness and global brand influence.”
